    The Bossier Sheriff’s

    Operation Blessing

Operation Blessing continues to assist elderly and needy residents who otherwise might not have enough food. Operation Blessing was developed in 1998 the day before Thanksgiving. It is not just a holiday food program. The program operates year-round. It features a food bank and is staffed by the Bossier Sheriff’s Office Posse and Auxiliary volunteers. The food bank is a nonprofit corporation which operates without tax dollars. Its cost is underwritten by area businesses and private citizens who share our conviction that we are to help those who can’t help themselves.

The food bank is operated Wednesdays 9 a.m.-noon at 1518 Cox St., Bossier City (formerly Charlotte Ann Mitchell Educational Center). For more information, or to apply for qualification, call (318) 965-3500 or click here.

    The Bossier Sheriff's Posse

    Posse & Auxiliary

The Bossier Sheriff's Posse is an invaluable asset in helping your deputies to serve and protect the people of Bossier Parish. Although Posse members perform no direct enforcement duties, they provide additional eyes and ears, and their visibility in marked patrol units helps prevent crime.

The 270 posse volunteers are men and women over 50, many retired military, who are in uniform and ride in patrol units that are indistinguishable from the sworn deputies' patrol units. Posse members are trained in CPR, reporting accidents, crime scene preservation, home vacation checks and directing traffic at accident scenes.
