The Bossier Sheriff’s Office received high praise from the Town of Benton for the last month's fundraiser for Benton Police Department’s Officer LaRandle Taylor.

Bossier deputies Mary Kerry and Brandon Masters received an official proclamation from Benton’s Mayor Shelly Horton, Jr. in recognition for organizing the hamburger fundraiser that raised nearly $24,000.00 for Officer Taylor.

Sheriff Whittington expressed his pleasure showed by the community in helping a member of the law enforcement community. “I think like this really backs up what I’m saying and support that the people in this area they know what tough job that we have, even when something seems as harmless like directing traffic we know can turn into an almost fatal situation”, said Sheriff Whittington.

Officer Taylor serves as a part-time police officer with the Benton Police Department, and with his part-time status, he is not eligible to receive sick pay and he does not have insurance to help cover his medical expenses.
