Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington presented a scholarship award to a college student during a ceremony Monday morning in the Sheriff’s Conference room at the Bossier Parish Courthouse in Benton.
Payton Anderson, daughter of Bossier Sheriff’s deputy Captain Brad Anderson, Warden of the Medium Security Facility received a check for $500 from Sheriff Whittington. Payton is currently a freshman at Bossier Parish Community College where she is studying nursing. After getting her Associates's Degree in Nursing, Payton plans to attend LSU in Baton Rouge.
When asked why nursing she replied it is the influence of other family members who are in the medical field that inspired her.
Sheriff Whittington congratulated Payton on her achievements and told her he knows that it is not a huge amount but every little bit helps.
This scholarship aims to help offset college expenses for the children of deputies and staff members of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.
