Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen and his deputies need your help in locating a burglar that surprised a homeowner on New Year's Day.
The Bossier Sheriff's Department began looking for the suspect on New Year's Day around 10:45 a.m. when the call from the 300 block of Cross Creek Drive first came in. Since the initial search, detectives have been able to update the description.
The suspect is believed to be in his late 20's or early 30's. He is a white male, estimated to approximately 5' 10", with a slender build, dark hair and possibly some facial hair. He will likely have a swollen, discolored or bandaged nose because of the tussle he and the homeowner were engaged in. He may also have cuts to his face and arms from jumping through a window at the home.
The suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored t-shirt and dark colored jeans. The homeowner also described the suspect to be wearing a yellow-colored LSU hooded-sweatshirt with purple lettering, which was later recovered by deputies; the sweatshirt had a large amount of blood on it.

**ORIGINAL RELEASE**
The Bossier Sheriff's Department needs the help of the public and the media in the search for a burglar that led deputies into a 5-hour manhunt.
Today at approximately 10:45 a.m., a homeowner in the 300 block of Cross Creek Drive in the Lakewood subdivision, just north of Bossier City, called the Bossier Sheriff's Department to report a break-in. According to the homeowner, the suspect threw a brick through a window and entered the home, rummaging through things inside. The homeowner, who was initially asleep, was awakened by the noise and retrieved a gun to defend his home. The homeowner found the burglar, tussled with him and then held him at gun point. While holding him at gun point, the homeowner attempted to call 9-1-1, and the burglar seized the opportunity to take flight. He jumped through a window in the home and began running toward Bossier City. The homeowner lost sight of the suspect near the entrance of the subdivision and was able to tell deputies which direction he had fled.
Bloodhounds and deputies then fanned out to search for the suspect. Various eyewitnesses were able to give deputies a clear idea of which way the suspect had gone. The dogs were able to track the suspect south along Airline Drive, through a drainage ditch and over to the Circle K at the corner of Airline and Brownlee Road. Investigators believe that the suspect may have gotten into a vehicle at the convenient store there. The manhunt ended at approximately 4:00 p.m. when the trail went cold at the gas station.
The suspect is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s. He is a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches, slender build with dark hair and some facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, possibly dark green or black, and dark colored jeans. His jeans are probably wet because he went through a wet drainage ditch. He will likely have a bloody or broken nose as a result of the fight he and the homeowner were engaged in. It's also possible that he may have cuts to his face, hands or arms from where he jumped out of the window.
Anyone with any information on this burglary suspect should contact the Bossier Sheriff's Department at 318-965-2203.
