The sixth North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy graduation was a success today at the academy in Plain Dealing.
Seventeen graduates walked across the stage and received their certificates for completing the Louisiana Peace Officers Standards and Training courses. The recruits were from the Bossier Sheriff's Department, Webster Sheriff's Office, Grambling Police, Minden Police, Springhill Police, LA State Fire Marshall's Office, and the LA Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
Jeremy Utphall of the Webster Sheriff's Office took home nearly all of the awards, including the firearms, physical training, and honor graduate awards. Shawn Jenkins of the Minden Police Department was given the academic award.
Both Sheriff Deen and Sheriff Sexton of Webster spoke to the class, along with academy director and Assistant Chief David Walden.
Throughout their time at the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy, these men and women have displayed excellence and determination in their classroom work, defensive tactics exercises, firearms training, and physical fitness training. Now they must return to their respective agencies and utilize the knowledge gained while in the academy.
