A Plain Dealing man was arrested last night for possession of schedule I with intent to distribute.

Jordan Gantrell Phillips, 21, of the 1100 block of Goodman Street, was sitting in a yard in Plain Dealing next to a man that deputies were looking for. They wanted to speak with the man about an earlier incident. As deputies pulled up to the yard, the man that deputies initially wanted to speak with took off running. Meanwhile, Phillips stayed seated in the yard.

As other deputies went in search of the man on foot, a deputy began to talk to Phillips. For officer safety, the officer patted Phillips down for weapons. During the pat down, the deputy felt a bulge in both of Phillips' front pockets. The deputy asked him what was in his pockets, and Phillips stated that he didn't know. After reading him his rights, the deputy asked Phillips again what was in his pockets. Phillips stated, "Take me to jail. You're going to get it anyway." The deputy then searched his pockets and found a ball of money in the front left pocket and 9 clear baggies with suspected marijuana packaged for resale in his front right pocket.

Phillips was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking. His bond is pending.
