Sgt. Daniel Talley of the Bossier Sheriff's Department explains to recruits of P.O.S.T. Basic Academy Class 007 during their first day of training Feb. 17 what to expect over their next 10 weeks of instruction at the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy in Plain Dealing.
Thirty-one recruits from 15 different law enforcement agencies began the intense schedule, which includes physical training, weapons qualifications, academic testing and a wide-range of law enforcement training, in order to become law enforcement officers. The first police academy class for NLCJA held its graduation nearly three years ago in May 2009; Class 007 is scheduled to graduate May 11.
