Michael Arceneaux, 18, of the 1000 block of Huckaby Road in Haughton, was observed by an off-duty Bossier City police officer driving recklessly after leaving the scene of a crash on Highway 80 near Country Place subdivision around 9:20 p.m. A Bossier Sheriff's deputy located the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that Arceneaux was driving, which had heavy damage on the front. The deputy pursued Arceneaux with emergency lights and sirens westbound on Highway 80 for about a mile, but Arceneaux wouldn't stop. He accelerated north onto Bellevue Road at the red light without coming to a stop, continuing for about a half a mile before stopping for the deputy.
When the deputy made contact with the driver, the 18-year-old was not able to produce neither proof of insurance nor a driver's license. Arceneaux also admitted to the deputy he fled the scene of the crash.
Arceneaux was charged with aggravated flight from an officer, hit and run driving, no insurance, no driver's license, and failure to obey traffic signals. His bond is pending.
Incidentally, Arceneaux was arrested less than two months on Aug. 31 by Bossier Sheriff's Special Investigations Unit on various drug charges in which the department removed off the streets of Bossier Parish more than $28,000 worth of marijuana that Arceneaux and three others planned to distribute.
