A Benton man was arrested yesterday afternoon for DWI, improper lane usage, littering, no proof of insurance and open container.
Dispatch received a call regarding a possible drunk driver on Highway 3. The deputy located the vehicle and observed it crossing the center line. Near Burt Boulevard, he saw the driver toss a bottle from the vehicle into the median. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the vehicle, Richard Terry Gray, 42, of the 800 block of Simpson Street, admitted that he had drunk three or four beers. There were also empty and full beer containers in the front seat. Gray performed poorly on the Standard Field Sobriety Test and did not have any insurance.
Gray was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility. He refused to provide an Intoxilyzer sample. His bond was set at $1600.
