Deputies arrested a young woman for driving while intoxicated last night with a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
Courtney Glyn Matthews, 21, of the 8700 block of Highway 3 in Plain Dealing, lost control of her vehicle and drove into a ditch in a residential neighborhood in Benton. When deputies found her, she was asleep behind the wheel with the engine still running. There were three open bottles of Bud Light beer in plain sight inside the vehicle.
Deputies woke Matthews up, but she refused to get out of the car or unlock the door. After deputies explained to her that she had to exit the vehicle or they would remove her from the car, she exited. She showed clear signs of intoxication and performed poorly on the standard field sobriety test. A check on her driver's license showed that it was suspended.
Matthews was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility where she submitted an Intoxilizer sample of .204%. She was charged with DWI 2nd, resisting an officer, driving under suspension, careless operation, and open container. Her bond was set at $3800.
