DRUG TAKE BACK A HEFTY SUCCESS

On Saturday residents turned in 235.84 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs and other medications for disposal for the National Drug Take-Back Initiative.

Bossier Deputy Lieutenant Walt Hollis and DEA Diversion Investigator Teri Bass said they were busy throughout the morning. Lt. Hollis said over 80 people showed up with bags of old and bags medicines out of their cabinets.

According to the DEA, unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse.
