Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says two Benton men, one who has a criminal record of drug charges, were arrested Wednesday night with more drug charges following a traffic stop on Highway 3 near Kingston Road.
Donald W. Anderson, Jr., 30, of the 600 block of Lincoln St., was the driver while Berrence D. Manning, 29, of the 1500 block of Highway 160, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by deputies for a traffic violation. When the deputies made contact with Anderson, he appeared very nervous. When Anderson exited the vehicle, deputies saw a large bag of suspected marijuana sticking out of his front pocket. Deputies also saw an open bottle of gin in the backseat and three individual packaged bags of suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Anderson was also found to be driving with a suspended license.
Anderson was charged with possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with the intent to distribute, driving under suspension, open container and improper lane usage. He has previous marijuana arrests in 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2009.
Manning was charged with his second offense of possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with the intent to distribute; previous drug arrest was in 2002.
Both men were transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility with bonds pending
