Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen is currently accepting applications from Bossier Parish students for the Louisiana Sheriffs' Scholarship Program, made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program.
The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school student from Bossier Parish. There are no restrictions on the purpose for which the scholarship is spent, and the scholarship is not a loan, but awarded as a gift to defray the rising costs of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that applicants must be permanent residents of Louisiana, the scholarship will be utilized in higher education within the state of Louisiana and students must be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate students. Applicants must also be eligible for admission to the school indicated on the application.
Other Sheriffs' Departments in Louisiana where the Sheriff is an affiliate of the Honorary Membership Program are also awarding scholarships within their parishes.
Students must submit their applications to the Bossier Sheriff's Department by April 1, and the scholarship winner will be announced a few weeks later. To find out more, contact Deputy Mary Kerry at 965-4289.
