Two Bossier City men were arrested this weekend following a traffic stop on east Texas Street.
Ladarrel Donzell Kennedy, 27, of the 1300 block of Owen Street, was the driver of a vehicle stopped for not using a left turn signal when turning. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver didn't stop. The passenger, Quindon Daniel Smith, 25, of the 1500 block of Leslie Street, fled the vehicle. Meanwhile, Kennedy attempted to drive off. Deputies pursued Smith on foot and were eventually able to stop both Smith and the driver of the vehicle.
During the foot pursuit, deputies gave loud verbal commands for Smith to stop. A deputy grabbed him, and he pushed the deputy to the ground causing minor injuries to the deputy. At this point, two baggies were seen falling from Smith's pockets. He continued to run, but was caught approximately one block from the traffic stop. The two baggies revealed three suspected baggies of cocaine packaged for resale. The deputy was treated at the scene by Bossier City Fire Department personnel.
Once the driver stopped, deputies made contact with Kennedy and discovered that he had a suspended driver's license and a Bossier City warrant. He was arrested and charged with driving under suspension, no driver's license, no turn signal, resisting, and Bossier City fugitive.
Smith was arrested and charged with possession of schedule II with intent to distribute, resisting, and battery of a law enforcement officer. He, too, was found to have an active Bossier City warrant and was additionally charged with such.
Both men were transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility. Kennedy's bond was set at $1869. Smith's bond is pending.
