A Bossier City man was arrested this weekend for possession of schedule IV, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless operation, expired motor vehicle inspection, and texting while driving.

Spencer Lee Shands, 24, of the 3300 block of Caprizzi Lane, was observed by deputies crossing two lanes of traffic without a turn signal at a high rate of speed in the 5000 block of East Texas Street. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the driver. Shands was asked to empty his pockets. He pulled out a prescription bottle labeled morphine with 8 suspected Xanax pills inside. He also had a plastic syringe with which he stated he had injected morphine. Additionally, the motor vehicle inspection sticker was expired. Post Miranda, Shands told deputies that he had also been texting while driving.

Shands was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility. His bond was set at $6000.
