Meagan Sterline Walters, 17, of the 4800 block of Airline Drive, was on a school field trip to Holiday Lanes bowling alley in Bossier City. Walters was observed by a school teacher smoking and possessing suspected marijuana in the restroom. She was smoking the substance out of a glass smoking device. Walters also shared the marijuana with another 15-year-old student. The substance and pipe were both recovered.
Walters was arrested and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking. She was charged with possession of schedule I: marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Her bond was set at $2000.
The 15-year-old student was also charged and released into the custody of her parents.
"Stopping crime at our schools and during school functions is a top priority for the Bossier Sheriff's Department," said Sheriff Deen. "That's why our school resource officers are so important. If we can keep drugs away from our children, then we are preventing them from beginning a life of crime. Hopefully, these teens and others who see their story will learn a valuable life lesson."
