BOSSIER AGENTS CHECK 4 STORES FOR UNDERAGE ALCOHOL SALES, Two in Compliance, Two Clerks Cited

The Bossier Sheriff-Police Narcotics Task Force checked 4 stores in Bossier Parish on Oct. 25 for underage alcohol sales; two stores complied with the law, while two clerks at the other stories did not comply and were cited for selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21.

These 2 stores were not in compliance with the law and did sell alcohol to underage buyers; charged with unlawful sales to persons under 21:

· Reynolds #2, 1115 Highway 162, Benton

· The Cellar, 4326 Benton Road, Bossier City

These 2 stores were in compliance with the law and did not sell alcohol to underage buyers:

· Kangaroo Express, 2651 Benton Road, Bossier City

· Raceway, 3645 Benton Road, Bossier City

“Ensuring businesses that sell alcohol are in compliance with the law is key,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington. “We want stores and clerks to ask for proper identification, and when the buyers are under the age of 21, clerks should refuse service. Otherwise, if they sell alcohol to underage persons, the clerks will be cited.”

The Bossier Sheriff-Police Narcotics Task Force comprises deputies with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Bossier City Police Department and was formed in 2012.
