In 1988 the Bossier Sheriff's Office Public Safety Dive Team was expanded from four members to a total of eight. Utilizing a multi-agency concept the team consist of five members from Benton Fire District #4 and three members from the Bossier Sheriff’s Office with the Bossier Sheriff's Office patrol supervisor as its commander.
The Dive Team utilizes specialized equipment to perform their underwater duties such as Scuba gear and wet suits. Three boats are also used as part of the rapid response capabilities of this highly specialized team.
Each team member is highly trained and certified as a Public Safety Diver as well as a Rescue Diver. The team also has training in underwater evidence recovery and black water diving and maintain a high level of readiness for search and recovery missions.
