training

"An Atmosphere of Excellence"

Your Bossier Sheriff’s deputies are highly trained in the most up-to-date as well as the traditional law enforcement skills. A deputy’s training does not end with graduation from the police academy. Deputies’ skills are constantly being honed through the use of in-service training sessions covering such topics as firearms, defensive tactics and SWAT tactics.

They also learn less-than-lethal weapons, such as chemical weapons, bean bag projectiles that do not penetrate, the pepper ball -- and the taser, which temporarily incapacitates by use of an electric current.

Our instructors also share their expertise with the public in hunter safety and women’s self defense courses. For more information about these programs, the public may contact our training officers at (318) 965-3525.

The North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy was dedicated in Sept. 2006, and it is presently providing training for peace officers from the region and throughout the world. Visit the Academy Web site.
